The Ephemera of Guybrush Threepwood

MA Graphic Design & Typography | Final Project 2017

Wanting to dedicate my final degree project to graphic prop making for film & television, I chose to dig up one of my earliest exposures to popular culture and explore the video game Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge (1991, LucasArts) as if it was a film script requiring graphic props. Set in the golden age of piracy the game tells the story of Guybrush Threepwood, an aspiring pirate searching for the legendary treasure Big Whoop. My designs are based on the original 16bit depiction of the objects Guybrush interacts with, attempting to make them look as period-appropriate as possible.
