DESIGNING GRAPHIC PROPS FOR FILM & TV.

Love letters exchanged by star-crossed lovers, a Victorian handbill flying effortlessly through a shot of an 1880s town square or complicated computer screens on a space ship in the far away future. If you’ve ever watched a movie, you have most likely seen a graphic prop on screen, thought nothing of it and quite probably forgotten about it entirely two seconds later. Graphic designers for the film industry work tirelessly to provide you with this very specific sensation.

Making a movie takes an unimaginable amount of work. The smallest details are carefully considered and created by hundreds of people in a film crew, each of them an expert in a different field. My expertise is designing, printing and often hand-finishing graphic props, as period appropriately and beautifully as possible. And if they’re done well, you probably won’t even notice them.

Things I worked on:

One of my favourite aspects of creating graphics for Film & TV is exploring different periods through visual research and design. A passion I was able to live out fully on my most recent job as a Graphic Designer on Season 6 of The Crown (Netflix).
